JROTC offers opportunities to earn community service hours through various tasks given and also offers many a large amount of involvement with the community in special events. Tasks range from selling information packets at school games to cleaning the community or repainting various places.

9/11
On September 11 the Irvin JROTC presented the flags at half staff in remembrance of the tragedy that occurred only a few years ago. The ceremony commenced at 0800 and only took a few minutes to bring the flag to the top of the staff, then back half way down. US and Texas flag at half staff

Southwest Rodeo
The cadets who volunteered On September 23, 2006, the Irvin JROTC and other schools with JROTCs participated in assisting with the rodeo held at Cohen Stadium. The JROTC cadets performed various tasks such as allowing entrance into the gates. Along with working the cadets also interacted with the US Army soldiers who attended the rodeo and other cadets.

Amigo Air Show
Some cadets working at an enterance gate to the air show On October 8 the cadets traveled to Biggs Fields on Ft. Bliss to help with the Amigo Air show. The Air show took part on two weekends of which Irvin helped on the second weekend. The cadets helped out with the air show and also enjoyed themselves running around and enjoying what the air show had to offer.

Veteran's Day Parade
The unarmed drill team On November 11, the JROTC drill teams and color guard partook in the Veterans Day Parade which took place in downtown El Paso.

DAI Inspection
On December 5 and 6 the JROTC underwent its semester inspection by the EPISD DAI. The cadets were inspected on their intelligence of the criteria of the JROTC program. Cadet reporting to the inspector

ADA Symposium
3 cadets acting funny On December 7 some of the cadets traveled down town to the ADA Symposium where they learned about new satellite and missile technologies used by the military today. The cadets interacted with both soldiers and other cadets as they all spent the time together.

Military Ball
On December 9 the JROTC Military Ball took place. The saber guard presented the royal court and then rejoined the other cadets. The first dance was reserved for the royal court. After which the floor was open for anyone to dance who wished. The ball lasted till 0001 before the music was finally ended when the DJ scared off the last of the cadets with "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice. Some cadets enjoying themselves on the dance floor
